The short version: RailTracker doesn't collect personal information — no accounts, no names, no emails, no analytics. Location is used only on your device to work out your region. If you turn on alerts, an anonymous notification token is stored so we can deliver them, and nothing else. The full policy below is the binding version.
1. Information We Collect
We don't collect personal information like your name or email. RailTracker uses only the minimum technical data needed to provide the features you turn on:
- No account registration required
- No personal details (names, emails, phone numbers)
- No usage analytics or tracking
- No advertising or ad identifiers
- Notification token: if — and only if — you enable alerts, a randomly generated device token is stored so notifications can be delivered to your device. It is not linked to your name, email, or any other identifier, and it is used for nothing else
2. What's Stored On Your Device
Your settings stay local. Preferences such as the lines you follow, your alert choices, and display options are stored on your device only — they are never uploaded, and they are removed when you delete the app.
3. Location
If you enable location features like "Nearby Stations", your location is processed entirely on your device. RailTracker may use region-level location — your country or city — to tailor in-app content. Your exact location is never received, stored, or transmitted to us.
4. Public Transport Data
RailTracker displays publicly available schedule and status information from official transport sources, currently Transport for London (TfL). No personal information is sent to these services. If further transport agencies are added in future, this policy will be updated to list them.
5. Data Sharing
RailTracker does not share data with third parties. There are no analytics SDKs, advertising networks, or third-party data processors in the app. Notification tokens are used solely to deliver the alerts you asked for, and are never sold, shared, or repurposed.
6. Children's Privacy
RailTracker is safe for all ages. We do not collect information from anyone, including children under 13, and the app is operated in accordance with COPPA.
7. Your Privacy Rights
Under GDPR, CCPA, and other applicable privacy laws, you have rights regarding personal data. RailTracker holds no information that identifies you. The only data stored outside your device is the anonymous notification token described in section 1 — you can remove it at any time by turning off notifications in your device settings, and deleting the app removes everything else.
8. App Store Compliance
This policy meets Apple App Store and Google Play Store requirements. RailTracker does not use any third-party SDKs that transmit data to external servers.
9. Crash Reporting
Currently disabled. If implemented in the future, this policy will be updated to reflect any changes before they take effect.
10. Policy Updates
Changes will be posted here with an updated effective date. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
11. Permissions
RailTracker requests the following device permissions, both optional:
- Location: used only to enable features like "Nearby Stations". Can be revoked at any time in your device settings.
- Notifications: used only to deliver service alerts you have opted into. Can be revoked at any time in your device settings.
